Debating for Democracy (D4D) ™ is a distinctive campus-based co-curricular program that represents the mission of Project Pericles in action. D4D on the Road is a six-hour training workshop designed to provide novice and seasoned political activists with the tools and tactics they need to get their message across to elected officials and the media. During the past three academic years, over 1,250 students, faculty, administrators, alumni, parents, and community leaders from Periclean colleges and universities participated in a D4D on the Road workshop.

The 2011-2012 D4D on the Road workshops will be led by the Center for Progressive Leadership (CPL). CPL is a national nonpartisan training institute based in Washington, D.C. that has trained over 5,000 diverse leaders. 

Students, faculty, administrators, alumni, and community leaders will participate in an interactive workshop that will help themlearn concrete tools for successful organizing and advocacy, including values-based messaging, analyzing root causes, identifying targets and tactics, and strategic planning. Participants will identify new strategies for making change on a particular issue or cause, practice developing and delivering an effective advocacy message, and build relationships to support and sustain their work.

The workshop is co-sponsored by Project Pericles and is funded by The Henry Luce Foundation.
